Kinetic theory of instability in the interaction of an electron beam and plasma with an arbitrary anisotropic electron velocity distribution function

Abstract Based on the kinetic approach, this work investigates stability of system consisting a fast electron beam and dense plasma at an arbitrary (anisotropic) velocity distribution function. It is shown that during interaction with cold plasma, both conditions for losing growth rate disturbances do not depend form function (EDF) are determined only by ratio energy to mean in plasma. With increase it becomes necessary take into account following moments EDF. was found anisotropy has significant effect loss rate. The physical reason shift frequency due Doppler caused coordinate moving along beam. Other findings include region anomalous dispersion beam–plasma regions negative group perturbations such system. Physical interpretations proposed all observed effects.
